How to “feel young” isn’t one of those things you can learn from a double-blind, placebo-controlled scientific study (unfortunately) so we turned to New York lifestyle coach and counselor Karen Elizaga for advice. She says that her clients look years younger and have a new spring in their steps after trying these five “feel younger” moves.

Pat Yourself on the Back

Children receive praise for even tiny accomplishments, and even when they don’t “succeed” we praise them for their efforts—but as we age we tend to focus on what we haven’t done, and take our successes for granted. “When we beat ourselves up we don’t have energy to move forward,” she says. “But if you reflect on your accomplishments, and on the effort you exert—even if the product of that effort isn’t always what you hoped—it’s incredibly energizing.”
